In 2011 she won Mark Twain Award for “Oxy: What Your Kids Aren’t Telling You” and for investigative reporting. Currently, she serves as Executive Film Director at Gallagher and as Principal CEO at Sandra Maas Media.

On March 10, 2023, Maas was all over the news because she won the Equity Pay lawsuit against KUSI-TV. Court did not pay her $10 million as she demanded but issued an order to pay $1.5 million as compensation for past and future wage loss and emotional distress.

Everybody is happy with the court’s decision because Sandra’s win will make employers think twice before violating equal pay laws.

Sandra Lynn Maas Vs KUSI-TV

It all started in 2019 after Sandra’s exit from KUSI; she filed a $10 million lawsuit against KUSI’s owner. Mass claimed that she was denied a contract renewal and was fired after she demanded to be paid the same as her male co-anchor Allen Denton.

As per the female news anchor, she was being paid $180,000, whereas Denton was $250,00 annually. She claimed that in April 2018, she had written a letter to the management underlining that she deserved the same pay as her male counterparts. McKinnon offered her a $20,000 raise but with a three-year contract, but she did not want the three-year tie-up.

The lawsuit continued for four years, but finally, in March 2023, judges concluded that KUSI violated equal pay laws but did not discriminate against Lynn. McKinnon was ordered to pay Sandra $1.5 million in compensation.
